Do I have to give consent to a law enforcement officer to search my car in Florida?

Citizen relationships with law enforcement are notorious for causing problems for my clients, and I will tell you that under no circumstance do you have to really communicate with a police officer, and certainly you don’t have to let them search your car. If they have enough probable cause to do it, they will search your car. If they don’t have probably cause, it is my position that you should never voluntarily consent to a search of your car, your home, or anything that you own.
